Tuesday, 26 November 2019, 19:31 Last update: about 5 years ago

The PL executive has unanimously backed Prime Minsiter, Josph Muscat in a vote of confidence, taken this evening.

Konrad Mizzi, who resigned from Cabinet earlier today, also confirmed he will be staying on as a MP, as he was democratically elected.

Muscat was seen to have left Parliament early on Tuesday evening to attend an urgent Labour Party's executive meeting.

The meeting is being held at the party's headquarters in Hamrun. Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne was also seen leaving Parliament at around 6.30pm.

Muscat is under pressure after his Chief of Staff, Keith Schembri, resigned on Tuesday morning before he was questioned by the police. One of his deputy leaders, Chris Cardona, has suspended himself. He was also questioned by investigators probing the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The Labour Party has also announced that Muscat will address a political activity in Fgura, on Sunday. Sources said the event was originally intended to be held at Zejtun but was moved to Fgura because of the sheer number of delegates and members who showed their intention to attend.
