Police Association condemns One News report linking ‘Busuttil’s people’ to protest violence

The Malta Police Association has condemned a One News report that claimed that the police had identified people close to Simon Busuttil as being behind Tuesday's violent incidents near Parliament.

The Labour media said the MPA had condemned the "attack by Simon Busuttil's people."

In a Facebook post, however, the MPA said it was condemning and categorically denying the report, adding that it had in no way identified any of the people involved as being of any political leaning or that they behaved in the way that they did because they support someone in the political camp.

The association said it had no information on who the person was.

It deplored this type of report, in this case by One News, that can twist press statements for political gain.

Protestors threw eggs and coines at politicians, including Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, in Wednesday's anti-corruption protest.

Protests will also be held on Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon.
