Chris Cardona, who on Monday said he was suspending himself from the post of Economy Minister, snubbed reporters on his way in and out of Parliament on Wednesday evening.
This newsroom tried to ask Cardona what the terms of his suspension are, and whether he is still drawing his ministerial salary. Cardona strolled casually into and out of the building but did not stop to take questions.
On Tuesday, Cardona announced that he was suspended himself from ministerial duties. The decision was announced after a cabinet meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister. Cardona was recently questioned by the police in connection with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. A senior member of his staff was also reportedly questioned. Cardona was not questioned under arrest.
Muscat’s right hand man, Keith Schembri, resigned his post of OPM chief of staff on Monday, shortly before he was interrogated. He is currently under arrest. Konrad Mizzi resigned from the post of Tourism Minister. He had been pressured to resign over his links with 17 Black owner Yorgen Fenech, who has been arrested for the fourth time.
Both Mizzi and Cardona have stayed on as MPs.
