These exclusive photos show the Ghajnsielem villa where 17 Black owner Yorgen Fenech and former OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri allegedly hatched Fenech's escape plan.

The villa is the registered address of Doctor Adrian Vella, who is under arrest along with Fenech and Schembri. The Malta Independent has revealed that Vella gave Fenech a note from Schembri, with the latter asking not to be named with investigators. Vella passed on the handwritten note to Fenech while examining him at Mater Dei Hopital on Saturday. The businessman was admitted to hospital after complaining of chest pains. Fenech later told investigators about the message.

Fenech - the main suspect in Daphne Caruana Galizia's murder - has told investigators that Schembri was the mastermind behind the 16 October 2017 hit. The police, however, are treating these allegations with extreme caution.

Fenech reportedly also told investigators that he had met Schembri at Vella's farmhouse to plan Fenech's escape. It is being reported that Fenech would have sailed to Tunisia by boat and then travelled to Dubai.  Fenech was arrested on Wednesday last week shortly after he sailed out of Portomaso on his yacht.

The villa is located close to Fessej Rock and the Mgarr ix-Xini Tower.

Vella is thought to be close to Schembri and Fenech and is the family doctor for both men. Amongst other properties, Vella owns an apartment at Portomaso, close to Fenech's own residence.

On his Facebook profile, he often promotes the Rummo pasta brand, which is imported to Malta by one of Schembri's companies.

His Facebook profile also features photos of Vella with Neville Gafa, the OPM employee who is embroiled on the Libyan medical visas scandal. Gafa is also known to be very close to Keith Schembri.

Sources also said that Vella is regularly used as a doctor on call by hotels owned by the Tumas Group.
