Businessman Yorgen Fenech this evening filed a constitutional case against the chief investigator in the Daphne Caruana Galizia murder case.

The case is expected to be heard by Magistrate Miriam Hayman on Friday at 3pm.

Fenech, who was arrested last week as he was on a yacht just off Pembroke, was accompanied to the law courts by a heavy police presence and his lawyers.

Lawyers Marion Camilleri and Gianluca Caruana Curran are assisting Fenech.

The police this afternoon dismissed a plea by Fenech for Arnaud to be removed from the case.

The police said that investigations will keep on going without interruptions.

"The inquiring Magistrate is continuously updated with the developments of the case. There exists no basis for Inspector Keith Arnaud to be removed from this investigation," the police said. "The results thus far are testament to this. Inspector Arnaud has from the beginning of the case led the investigation, with the assistance of Europol who remained and are till today, are actively involved in the investigation."
