Yorgen Fenech said that "the truth will come out," while he exited the courts on Friday afternoon accompanied by his lawyer, following the first sitting in a case he filed to change the lead inspector in the Daphne Caruana Galizia murder investigation.

As people were heard yeling "mafia," Fenech quickly walked down the road towards the back of the courts. While protesters followed, local and international media swarmed him.

Asked if the Prime Minister is responsible, Yorgen Fenech said he would not like to make any comments at this stage, adding that it is a very delicate stage. Asked if Schembri is responsible, he said that the truth will come out, and repeated this phrase to many other questions as well.

He became defensive when told that he ordered Caruana Galizia's assassination, saying: "I didn't say that, I said that I am confident that the truth will come out."

Fenech admitted that he is ready to name many names.

Asked about his complaints with regards to the investigation, he said that he thinks the lead investigator is biased, and cited "his own reasons which are public, and the courts are evaluating. I have trust in the courts."

Asked whether he is scared for his life, he said yes. He said that he has enough protection from the State.

Fenech was also asked whether he requires more protection to which he said not at this stage, and said that he has not asked for more. When he had asked, he said, he was given and said that it was more than adequate.

Asked whether he is ready to spill the beans even without a pardon, he said that he is ready and determined to do everything for the truth to come out."

Fenech was also heard saying that he is ready to go all the way with his case. Yorgen Fenech could be re-arrested at 9am, however his lawyers said that this would be unfair as he has not had much rest.

An activist outside the courts said that all they want is justice. She said that protesters are not trying to be violent. "Is justice too much to ask for?"

Yorgen Fenech was later also seen leaving his lawyer's office.
