Watch: Neville Gafà visits Keith Schembri’s home

Thursday, 5 December 2019, 19:27 Last update: about 5 years ago

Neville Gafà , the Office of the Prime Minister's unofficial envoy to Libya who is also at the heart of the Visa scandal, has been in contact with the former OPM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, even visiting his home tonight.

A journalist from this newsroom witnessed Gafà's car leaving Schembri's home in Mellieha this evening at around 6.30pm. Gafà has been visiting Schembri since the latter resigned.

The Malta Independent rang Schembri's doorbell, however Schembri did not open (see video above).

Gafà then returned to Schembri's house at around 7.10pm this evening. Gafa said that he was visiting on a purely friendship basis.

Yorgen Fenech, the man accused of being the mastermind behind the assassination of Journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, has pointed the finger at Schembri in connection to the case, arguing that Schembri had informed him that his phone was being tapped, and that the police were going to carry out a big raid in Marsa in December 2017 when the three men accused of murdering Caruana Galizia were arrested, among other things.

Melvin Theuma, the middleman who was given a Presidential Pardon, has also mentioned two new names in his testimony this week.

During his testimony, Theuma said that he had gotten a call from a man called Johann, and he (Johann) and a certain Kenneth came to meet him. Theuma assumed that Yorgen Fenech sent them to meet him. Or else it could have been Keith Schembri, because Kenneth worked in Castille, Theuma said. Kenneth told him that Degiorgios were going to be released on a one million euro bail, he testified.

The Malta Independent is informed that the Kenneth that Theuma referred to is a certain Kenneth Camilleri, who works as a security guard at OPM. Kenneth Camilleri had worked at the Office of the Prime Minister as a security guard for a number of years. He also travelled with Neville Gafa to Libya. He is a former police officer.
