Transport and Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg this morning posted a long Facebook status commenting on the current political situation, yet being non-committal as to whether he will be running for the Labour Party leadership race.In his post he announced that he would be meeting families and supporters in the upcoming weeks, so as to continue the work of the party, "for the good of the country".
He said that he will continue working hard and assures that the Labour Party "together as a movement, as a government, as a people, will shift every challenge into an opportunity for more wealth, justice and progress for the Maltese and Gozitan families."Just yesterday, MEP Miriam Dalli announced that she will not be contesting for the Labour Party leadership election. With Dalli out of the running, the number of likely potential candidates are down to three; Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne, Transport Minister Ian Borg, and MP Robert Abela.
This newsroom has contacted all three and so far none of them have made any clear indication whether they will be contesting or not.
