Joseph Muscat to blame for the current economic recession, PN says

Monday, 9 December 2019, 18:53 Last update: about 5 years ago

Businesses are suffering as a result of the political uncertainty created by government corruption, the Nationalist Party said on Monday.

In a statement, PN spokesperson for the self-employed and businesses Edwin Vassallo referred to the recent GRTU statement that said sales were down 50%.

He said this was a result of the crisis the government had created through its egoism and efforts to cover up the web of people involved in alleged acts of corruption that led to the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The political outlook does not augur well for certainty in the political sphere and for small and medium enterprises and this instability is persisting even after the change in Prime Minister, the PN said.

This experience in economic recession is all Joseph Muscat's fault, the party said. The PM is more interested in safeguarding the interests of the Labour Party than those of the country and its people, the party continued.

The PN said it will keep following the markets and the economy and is ready to take the necessary action so that this negative experience suffered by business owners comes to and end.
