Maltese community plans Brussels protest

Tuesday, 10 December 2019, 09:24 Last update: about 5 years ago

A protest has been announced by the Maltese community in Brussels.

MEP David Casa said that “there is disbelief in Brussels that Joseph Muscat continues to hold onto power under these circumstances. People are furious, here and in Malta.”

The Maltese community in Brussels will also make its voice heard before Thursday's EU Council summit. "I will be among them.”

The protest seems to be expected to take place in front of the Maltese Permanent Representation to the EU.

As political pressure mounts for Joseph Muscat to resign immediately, rather than in January, questions have been raised about his presence at the next European Council meeting in Brussels.

A few months ago, before developments in the investigation into the Daphne Caruana Galizia rocked the country, Muscat was close to obtaining a job in Brussels – or at least that’s what we were told by people close to him. This did not happen, and his standing in Europe has since been greatly damaged.
