The women's Super Cup match between top clubs Birkirkara and Mgarr United is to be played at the National Stadium this afternoon (kick off 2.30pm).

Addressing a news conference yesterday, Mgarr's Haley Bugeja and Birkirkara's Kailey Willis both expressed their opinion about their team's chances of winning the prestigious cup.

Willis and Bugeja both said that the women's game had improved a lot in recent years, adding that this match being played in such a superb stadium will prove to be an incentive for both teams to produce an exciting performance which will please all those attending to watch the game.

Willis said: "I am very excited playing such a match at the National Stadium. It will be difficult against Mgarr as they are a good side, but we are also having a good season, despite the challenge of not only Mgarr, but also of Swieqi. With three clubs fighting for the honours, it shows the improvement of women's football."

Bugeja said: "I am aware that I can end up playing abroad one day. But at present, my focus is on the Super Cup and the remaining matches locally. Then what happens later is still to be seen. I hope both teams will provide spectators with a good performance. Playing in such a magnificent stadium should help us to lift our own standards."
