Eleven migrants were arrested this afternoon after setting a tent on fire at Safi barracks during a riot, the police said.

The police were called to the site at 12.30pm when black smoke was noticed at Safi barracks, Kirkop.

A tent had been set on fire while some damage was also caused by some migrants.

While trying to control the situation, a police constable was injured when some migrants threw lead objects in the direction of the officers. The policeman needed treatment at a health centre.

Civil Protection Department officers were called on site to put out the blaze.
