Tuesday, 17 December 2019, 11:43 Last update: about 6 years ago

Keith Schembri has said that he was not notified that he had to be present in court this morning.

He delivered a brief comment to journalists while entering a car sent by the courts after Mr Justice Lawrence Mintoff issued an arrest warrant when Schembri failed to turn up to testify.

Schembri arrived in court at around noon, accompanied by his lawyer.

After the court decided that his testimony will be heard on Wednesday, Schembri told journalists that he will say what he has to say in court (video above).

Police officers had descended on the house of Keith Schembri, who was until recently was the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, after the judge ordered Schembri's arrest.

Schembri was due to testify in the constitutional case filed by murder suspect Yorgen Fenech to have Inspector Keith Arnaud removed from the investigation related to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
