Keith Schembri has refuted the label of “traitor” given to him by Labour supporters – including Prime Minister Joseph Muscat – saying that he led the party to 10 consecutive election victories.
PN MEP Roberta Metsola said Muscat had told her – when she was part of a delegation from the European Parliament which met him in Castille – that he felt betrayed by Schembri.
Schembri was speaking to journalists after leaving the law courts following his testimony in court today in the case instituted by Yorgen Fenech against lead investigator Keith Arnaud.
He resigned last month after being named in the investigation into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Asked whether he felt he needed to apologise to those Labourites who feel hurt, he said: "If I did anything to hurt them I apologise but I don't feel I need to apologise for anything."
