Around 10 kilos of cannabis were found in the sea at Ghajnsielem, Gozo, the police said.

The drug packets were found in the area between the Mgarr harbor and Xatt l-Ahmar Bay on Saturday afternoon, the police said.

The police were alerted to the find by two passersby. In total, the police found 83 blocks of cannabis in 16 packets. The drugs were sealed in plastic bags.

The police said they are not excluding the possibility that the drugs washed up ashore during bad weather.

Duty Magistrate Monica Vella was informed about the case and has launched in inquiry. The police are also investigating.
