Valletta Stars stole the show on Match Day 5 of the MAFA Second Division as they managed to halt San Ġiljan Saints' run. The Citizens managed to win this match 4-2.
Iain MacLeod's side had to endure their first defeat of the season after winning their first four matches.
It was an exciting affair at the Charles Abela Stadium with Valletta Stars that forged ahead on 34 minutes through Sillah Sainey.
In the second half, the Stars stayed focused and managed to score two more goals through Nunzio di Mauro and a Bjornar Heggerness own goal.
Ionut Popescu reduced the score for the Saints but Valletta Stars were not impressed as they added another one through Luke Bonello.
Michael Hennessy scored another consolation goal on 64 minutes but it was too late in the day for the Saints to salvage any point.
Tarxien AFC won the evenly contested derby of the South against Fgura Spartans 3-2. It was a balanced encounter with Tarxien always up front and Fgura that refused to throw in the towel.
Togo striker Calasco Cava came to the fore as he netted a brace with Shaun Abela adding another one from a penalty.
Abdil Ali Jamal and Charlton Schembri replied to Tarxien's goals but it wasn't enough for them to get something from this match.
Balluta Barracudas continued with their positive season as they hammered Mosta Vikings 5-1.
The Balluta youngsters managed to react quickly after they found themselves a goal down to secure their second win of the season.
Ryan Tanti put the Vikings ahead after two minutes but Balluta had other ideas as they turned the tables through a Zak Muscat hat-trick with Matthew Tortell and Daniel Zammit Lupi also on the scoresheet.
In the meantime, the MAFA First Division match between Valletta St Pauls and Qormi Hotspurs was played at the Charles Abela Stadium after being postponed a few weeks ago because of a power outrage.
For the record the Citizens registered their third win of the season after seeing off Qormi Hotspurs 3-0.
Uros Markovic, Gary Tanti and Dragan Ilic hit the target for Valletta St Pauls who are now alone in the second place of the table three points behind leaders Marsa St Michael.
