Watch: Number of dogs found in poor condition on Zebbug farm

Wednesday, 8 January 2020, 12:34 Last update: about 6 years ago

A number of dogs were found in a horrific state, left starved and chained on a farm in Haz-Zebbug.

Animal Welfare received an anonymous call regarding the situation and officials were immediately sent to the farm to handle the situation accordingly. Animal Welfare director, Noel Montebello, told the Malta Independent that the dogs where in a very bad state due to the environment they were kept in.

The footage by Animal Welfare shows that the dogs were living in a neglected, dirty and abandoned environment. The footage also shows the dogs starved, living in their own dirt and surrounded by their own faeces. One of the chained dogs also seems to be severely hurt, as seen in the footage.

The owner of the farm will be arraigned in court on animal cruelty charges, whilst the dogs are now being taken care of by the Animal Welfare.
