St. George's scored a precious victory yesterday against Zebbug to gain three golden points in their fight against relegation. Zebbug attacked for long stretches especially in the second half, but St. George's were deadly in front of goal and took full advantage form the chances that came their way.

Zebbug did most of the running in the first half but were rather erratic in the final meters and Azzopardi was only tested in the dying minutes of the first half when he made a brilliant save off a point blank effort from Fagbeja.

St.George's were always dangerous in their breaks and took the lead on 14 minutes with a solo effort from the promising Dylan Caruana, who rounded a defender before beating Grech from an acute angle.

Minutes later Caruana almost doubled the score but his close range shot went just wide, and on 38 minutes the Saints were two up. A great run and an inch perfect cross from Uritani towards Leeroy Bonett who made no mistake all alone in front of goal.

Two minutes from time Zebbug pulled one back through captain Clive Brincat who settled a melee in front of goal. Deep in stoppage time the Saints were unlucky when a Perdomo dipper smashed against the crossbar.

Pembroke A: P. Schranz, Y. Shaba, D. Isakovic, M. Zarb, J.P. Mifsud Triganza, G. Azzopardi, T. Fenech, M. Buhagiar, N. Frendo, J.P. Oliveira Santos, Y. Tonna.

Referee: Slobodan Petrovic

Scorers: Dorde Isakovic 54', Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza 90'

Pembroke made it three in a row beating Pieta thanks to second half goals scored by Isakovic and Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza.

The second goal scored by Triganza was a very controversial one with the hitting the crossbar and bouncing on the ground, with the referee opting for the awarding of the goal. Pieta protested stronglyfor this and had some officials sent off from the bench.

Two minutes earlier Pieta were reduced to ten men when defender Jalo received a second booking. This was the third successive defeat Pieta who are now in apparent difficulty hovering in mid table after a very good start.

Pieta were the best team in the opening stages, but Pembroke grew in composure with Oliveira Santos playing a blinder, and their victory was a deserved one. Pembroke took the lead on 54 minutes with a well taken goal scored by Isakovic who beat Chircop with a precise grounder from the edge of the area.
