Vittoriosa gained a precious point yesterday against St. Andrew's in a grad affair settled by two goals in the second half. St. Andrew's dictated matters for most of the time but they rarely tested the opposing goalkeeper.

In fact Vittoriosa defended well and also had the only chance of the first half when a Sgaria Farias shot just missed the target.

At the start of the second half St. Andrew's forged ahead when form a Joseph Farrugia corner and a mistimed sortie by the goalkeeper, Kemar reid slotted home from close range. Vittoriosa had an effective reaction and drew level on 64 minutes thanks to a Sgaria Farias goal who nipped in to hit home a De Oliveira header.

In stoppage time substitute Vella Vidal went close for the Saints when his shot hit the base of the upright.

Zejtun consolidated their position at the top of the standings, beating Swieqi by the odd goal in three to register their seventh successive victory.

It was however a very hard earned win for the league leaders, who scored the winner almost against the run of play in Swieqi's best moments. Zejtun started like a house on fire with Ogunnupe and Suda in splendid form. Both contributed in Zajtun's lead after barely three minutes play.

But halfway through the first half Zejtun elected to defend their slender lead leaving the initiative to their opponents. Without creating much Swieqi were always on the attack and obtained a deserved draw on the hour.

Swieqi held the edge and had a couple of chances to take the lead before substitute Robeiro scored the winner with a great header.
