A match in Gozo was abandoned by the referee after one of the assistant referees was attacked by a player, Net Replay reports.
The Gozo Second Division match was between Oratory Youths and Sannat Lions, with the former leading the game 1-0 when it was abandoned in the 87th minute.
Two Sannat players were sent off late in the game, which is when the official was attacked.
Net Replay reports that the player was later arrested by the police.
In a post on Facebook, the referee, Massimo Axisa, said that he was in hospital with his assistant, who is being treated for injuries. He said he is speechless, adding that what happened was shameful.
