Residents of Attard say that more archaeological remains have been unearthed during excavation work paving the way for the building of the Central Link project.
The Attard Residents Environmental Network posted photos of what they say are remains found in Dferdinand Inglott Street on their Facebook page.
The network has vehemently opposed the project, being carried out by Infrastructure Malta to improve the road network leading from the central part of Malta towards the Rabat area.#
A few days ago, works were halted on a part of the Central Link project where some form of archaeological remains was uncovered, Infrastructure Malta said.
It described the remains as probably being vine trenches that had low historical value. The rock-cut trenches will be cleaned by hand and documented by archaeologists.
Infrastructure Minister Ian Borg told The Malta Independent on Friday that he was unaware of such remains being found.
