A biker died at Mistra after being involved in a traffic incident on Saturday afternoon.

The accident took place at around 2.40pm, on the road leading from Xemxija to Selmun.

The biker, Mark Camilleri, a 46-year-old of Mellieha, was riding a KTM 1190 which was involved in a crash with a Toyota Passo, police said.

The car was being driven by a 49-year-old woman from Lithuania. She was taken to hospital, suffering from shock.

A medical team was called on site but the biker was certified dead on site. Members of the Civil Protection Department cordoned off the area and the area was closed to traffic.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri has launched an inquiry.

Police investigations continue.
