This evening, fan favourite Destiny Chukunyere took home the crown for the second season of X Factor Malta, marking her as the Maltese representative for this year's Eurovision Song Contest in the Netherlands.
It might not come as a surprise that this seventeen-year-old powerhouse won the competition when considering her distinguished track record and inclination to fame, due to her father - Ndubisi Chukunyere - being a renowned Nigerian footballer and former Hibs striker.
This won't be the first time that Chukunyere will be representing Malta in a song contest abroad. In 2015, she represented Malta in Bulgaria for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and triumphed while breaking the record score by 185 points.
But her musical success trails further back, having also won the 'Asterisks Music Festival' in North Macedonia and 'SanRemo Junior' in Italy back in 2014.
More recently she had also auditioned for the eleventh series of 'Britain's Got Talent' of 2017 where she got four yeses and was later announced as one of the qualifiers going to the live shows. Unfortunately, she was eliminated at 6th place but this does not devalue the praise that she received by the judges with Simon Cowell saying "I've been waiting for someone to come out who we think could be a star. And guess who it is. You."
Even Louisa Johnson and Amelia Lily, who were special guests during last night's show, were impressed with her rendition of 'He Lives in You'.
Eurovision Song Contest 2020 will mark the 65th edition of the show and it is set to start on the 12th of May.
