University sets up Emergency Situation Team to advise on Coronavirus

The University rector has set up an Emergency Situation Team to advise over the Coronavirus, and told students returning from affected countries to self-quarantine for 14 days.

"In order to be prepared to deal with the situation, I have set up an Emergency Situation Team," an email sent to students read.

The Emergency Situation Team will issue advice as required from time to time. In order to avoid misunderstandings, no one else is authorised to issue any instructions in this regard."

"The University has been advised that students returning to Malta from all affected countries (China (including Hong Kong), Singapore, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Italy) as of Saturday, 22 February 2020 are required to self-quarantine for 14 days.  These students are not to attend lectures or other teaching sessions until the 14 days are over."

"It is important that students who are in self-quarantine inform the Registrar."
