Saturday, 14 March 2020, 08:57 Last update: about 7 years ago

The construction industry is one of the most important sectors in Malta but also the least regulated, according to the president of the Chamber of Architects and Civil Engineers.

Simone Vella Lenicker was being interview on the latest edition of Indepth, which focused on the ongoing revision of construction laws, brought about by the Hamrun building collapse in which a woman was killed.

She also said that, when the government introduced current legislation in 2019, it had promised other things too, like the licensing and classification of contractors, but these were never implemented.

During the interview with deputy editor in chief Neil Camilleri, she spoke about the need for the law regulating architects to be changed, the lack of resources in the construction industry and what should be included in the upcoming revised laws.

The full programme will be uploaded on Sunday.
