A Nigerian has been arrested on suspicion of allegedly murdering another Nigerian during an argument in Qawra on Saturday.
A 37-year-old man died in hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning after he was stabbed inside an establishment in Qawra.
The police said they were informed that a Nigerian man was stabbed during an argument in Triq il-Gifen, at around midnight. The man was given first aid by paramedics and was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. He was initially found to be in critical condition but died at around 1am.
In a statement issued later on Sunday, the police said that a Nigerian had been arrested on suspicion of murdering the man. The person was arrested in St. Julian's, the police said.
A person is helping the police in its investigations, the police reiterated in their later statement.
Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo is leading an inquiry and the police are also investigating the case.
