Frenchman breaches quarantine five times, fined €9,000

A Frenchman is reported to have breached quarantine rules five times and has been fined €9,000.

TVM reports that the man should have followed mandatory quarantine regulations but was caught outdoors a total of five times.

Three of the instances took place when the fines was €1,000, and the other two after it was raised to €3,000 per breach.

Two Indians were also fined €3,000, TVM reports.

Public health directorate head Clive Tonna told TVM that an Italian man and a Maltese man were also fined €3,000.

In all, 11 fines were issued from a total of 1,021 inspections.
