After the closure of schools due to the circumstances the country is facing, one of the solutions was to have online lessons where the students could connect with their respective teachers so that they would be able to continue their studies.

Minister for Education Owen Bonnici visited a classroom in the St. Thomas More College Marsaskala, St. Anne Primary School where a lesson was being carried out by a teacher and her students connecting remotely from their own home.

Usually those lessons are done from the teacher’s home.

Bonnici said that, “although schools are currently closed and our students cannot physically go there to learn, we were still able to find a solution so that they would be able to continue with their education. I am very pleased with the work that is being put in by the educators so that our students are still able to continue with their learning. After all, our children and future generations are the ones who are going to benefit from the works being done now.”

Minister Bonnici had the opportunity to see the process currently being done for Primary School students to keep in touch with their respective teachers and continue with their studies through the help of iLearn. The teacher sends work to be done through the website and children access it and submit it back to the teacher through their tablets.

The minister thanked all the educators for their hard work and the Marsaskala Primary School staff as well as the St. Thomas More College administration that were instrumental for the students to have this learning opportunity and be able to continue with their syllabus. Bonnici also showed appreciation towards the parents and guardians for their co-operation and for the manner in which many are supporting their children while at home.
