Gozo Channel Limited, the company which runs the ferry service between Malta and Gozo, has not filed its accounts since filing those catering for the year 2017.

This was divulged by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri in answer to a parliamentary question asked by PN MP Chris Said.

Said asked when Gozo Channel and other companies which fall under Camilleri's ministerial remit had last filed their accounts and why the accounts of subsequent years are yet to be published.

Camilleri replied that the last time that the accounts of Gozo Channel (Operations) Ltd were published were those which cater for the year ending 31 December 2017. The report was tabled in Parliament, but Camilleri did not answer as to why the accounts for years since then have not been published. 

Those financials indicate that Gozo Channel emerged from 2017 with a €727,948 profit - a significant improvement over the €9,648 loss it registered for the previous year. The company added a fourth ship to its fleet in 2019 - the MV Nikolaos - which was initially chartered for six months, but which will now remain in operation until a tender for a new ship is concluded.
