Updated: There will be tourism this summer - More Covid-19 measures to be eased on Monday

Prime Minister Robert Abela will on Monday announce further easing of Covid-19 restrictions, Tourism Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli told operators today.

Speaking during a tourism webinar, Farrugia Portelli said "there will be a summer."

The minister told the 1,500 operators taking part in the virtual meeting that there will be tourists this summer.

The said the first step will be to re-launch tourism between Malta and Gozo.

"Clear protocols" on the opening of certain sectors, like restaurants, hotels and beaches, will also be published on Monday, the Minister said.

Malta is also discussing the opening of safe travel corridors with nine countries, she said.

The Ministry later said that these countries are: Luxembourg, Norway, Serbia, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania and Israel.
