The route the gas pipeline between Malta and Sicily will be taking has been finalised, a statement issued by the Energy Ministry said.

The 151 kilometre route includes both the land sections on Sicily and Malta and the maritime segment, the statement said.

The announcement was made by Energy Minister Michael Farrugia when he visited Melita Transgas, a company which was set up specifically to implement the project.

The route was finalised with the blessing of the Environmental Resources Authority.
