Fall out, the new thriller novel by Malta-based author M. N. (Mark) Grenside that has already received rave reviews, has now been launched in Malta.
Described by award-winning producer Alan Moloney as a "tautly written, entertaining thriller that will keep the reader turning the pages right till the very end" and "sits somewhere between The Da Vinci Code and Indiana Jones", Fall out is the thrilling debut from Grenside.
In the story, an LA screenwriter is killed shortly after completing his latest script and sending it to a specific group of people. They are all connected to a movie that had abruptly stopped shooting in the jungles of the Philippines years before and that echoes events from the past. Fall out follows the story of producer Marcus Riley, who sets out on an increasingly dangerous quest to get the film made, and, alongside designer Melinda (Mako) de Turris and other recipients of the screenplay, escape an assassin from the past.
Based on a true scandal of a multi-billion-dollar theft and murder, Grenside uses his unique inside knowledge of the film industry to meticulously research and craft this page-turning international thriller.
Grenside, who lives in Malta, began working for Jim Henson and The Muppets© at the age of 25, starting a long entertainment career in which he has created and produced several movies, television series and mini-series. His music management company launched major artist Neneh Cherry, and in 2004 he arranged the $250m buy-out of the Hallmark Channel International, which was then successfully sold to NBC. More recently, he has become a serial entrepreneur as co-founder of seed to shelf CBD producer Dragonfly Biosciences and a founder in two separate digital companies. He is already penning the follow-up novel to Fall out, entitled The Bastion, part of which will be set in Malta. In addition, he writes the humorous And another thing blog at www.andanotherthing.com, which has subscribers in more than 40 countries.
"I wanted to wrap up all knowledge I've gained over the course of my career into a thriller based in the movie industry," says Grenside. "People find the film world fascinating, so the movie industry seemed a natural setting. The idea of mixing a true but almost unbelievable historical fact with an accurate insider's view of movie-making but with fictional characters seemed a good, fun blend!
"It's great to see that readers are already taking to it and I am thrilled to now bring it directly to Malta so it can be enjoyed here too."
