The Parliamentary Secretariat for Equality has released a video against racism.

The video shows scenes from the events happening in the USA, then cuts to Maltese singers, comedians, high profile media people and others, speaking about equality and against racism.

Peppi Azzopardi, in the video, says that the Maltese debate everything, "but on equality, there is no debate."

The Parliamentary Secretary, Rosianne Cutajar, said that "it is not enough to stay that we aren't racist. We must be active against whoever aims to divide us. We need to listen and learn from the stories of those who have been victims of racism. We are all human, we are all equal."

The death of George Floyd in the USA at the hands of a policeman sparked world-wide protests and sparked global concern over racism. In Malta, a man named Lassana Cisse Souleymane, 42, had been killed in a drive-by shooting on 6 April last year. Soldiers Francesco Fenech and Lorin Scicluna have been charged with the murder.
