Opposition Leader Adrian Delia has made an appeal to PL MPs to take action in order to clean up the Labour party.

Delia expressed his belief that not everybody is the same, and there are a number of PL MPs who truly respect their party and the country.

He referred to the recent reports that 17 Black, the Dubai company owned by Yorgen Fenech, made a profit of €4.6 million from Enemalta's purchase of a windfarm in Montenegro.

Delia was being interviewed by journalist Dione Borg, who asked about Prime Minister Abela's 'inaction', despite the Cabinet having known about the Montenegro issue since

November.

In reply, Delia commented that, "PM Abela stated that he was disgusted about what was reported and that the necessary steps should be taken. However, just yesterday we discovered that he knew what was going on all along, and he and the Cabinet knew about this whole situation but did nothing about it."

He added that, "although people like Joseph Muscat, Konrad Mizzi and Lawrence Cutajar betrayed the party and the country, they still formed part of the government in some way or another."

Delia made reference to what was said by PL MP Evarist Bartolo, who expressed that the party cannot be a shield for criminals who are harming the country.

He added that, "after finally coming out of a pandemic, all the public wants is to return back to normality. However, with everything that is going on and with everything that is being revealed this does not seem possible as the government is creating yet another problem, rather than helping its people."

Delia also made an appeal to Labour supporters in order to make the decisions that the country needs. "People do not need to be afraid as this does not mean that they will be betraying their party, but it is a decision that will be in favour of our nation."

Earlier on Sunday, Delia called an urgent meeting of the Nationalist Parliamentary Group in order to discuss the latest news in connection with 17 Black, and the alleged conversations between Fenech and Joseph Muscat, which the latter has vehemently denied.

"Things are changing constantly, hour by hour, and what is being revealed is having a huge negative impact on our country. Therefore, it is our obligation that we take the necessary steps in order to protect our country."

"What is being revealed is implying a national crime," he said.

Delia remarked that, "there are those in parliament who seem uncomfortable with what has happened as they can no longer stand to see the party and the country being led in this direction. Therefore, this is a time when everyone has to make the right choice because otherwise it will be too late. If certain decisions are not taken by next week, our country will unfortunately face yet another crisis," he said.

The Maltese government, with the approval of the Prime Minister as well as the finance Minister, had approved this project in Montenegro.

Asked whether the Oppositionwill be pushing for the publication of all documents on the Montenegro deal, Delia said that "the Opposition will put pressure on everything."

He added that, "Robert Abela can no longer hide and not tell the truth about such decisions and situations, and this can't keep happening over and over again."

Asked about reports that Abela is considering an early election, Delia said, "for Abela it can be a solution because if they do it again, as they did just two years ago, they will try to hide and cover everything up with an election."

He insisted that the government remains hijacked by a small clique.

He added that this "is not normal because normality is when you have a strong government that is not corrupt, who should be able to help and serve the people aswell as last the whole term."
