Sunday marked 1,000 days since journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated, NGO Repubblika has said.

"Despite her being assassinated in a single moment 1,000 days ago, she was being murdered over a longer period by those who had power in different forms," a statement by the NGO read.

Repubblika said that it was remembering this day by reconfirming its commitment for the whole truth to come out about the murder, and for justice to be served. "We reconfirm our commitment in favour of all Depahne Caruana Galizia worked for," the NGO said, adding that this includes fighting for accountability and honesty in public life among other things.

"As time passes, the more we see how Daphne was right when. At times even on her own she showed how the country was taken over by corruption. While we continue recognising her unique contribution to the country, the corrupt did not manage to stop her as we will continue what she started."
