A Somalian man allegedly sexually assaulted two young girls, the courts heard today.

The two separate incidents were said to have taken place in Floriana yesterday.

31-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, who is from Somalia, was charged with corrupting the Maltese girls aged 11 and 13, as well as subjecting them to non-consensual sexual acts. The court was presided by Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras.

The court heard how at around noon yesterday, a police report was made stating that the accused grabbed the 11-year-old and made sexual advances while she was walking in Floriana. The police received a call from an eyewitness.

While the police searched for the man, he allegedly committed a similar attack on another minor. Third parties told the police that the accused molested the 13-year-old.

The court heard how the accused had no fixed place of residence, and pleaded not guilty.

No bail was requested.

Lawyer Raisa Colombo was legal aid counsel to the accused.
