Adrian Delia formally submits nomination for PN leadership race

Friday, 7 August 2020, 06:28 Last update: about 5 years ago

Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia has formally submitted his nomination to contest an election for the post he already occupies.

In a post on Facebook, the Opposition Leader said he had informed the PN electoral commission of his candidacy.

“I will go for this election with great determination and courage,” he wrote, adding that he has full faith in the paid-up members who will be voting.

“I was the one who wanted a final decision by the tesserati,” he said. “Now it is in your hands to choose the destiny of this party.”

The choice is clear, he said, repeating his slogan for the election: “New way, new people”.

Delia was elected leader of the party in 2017, but since then has faced internal dissent which culminated in a vote of no confidence by the parliamentary group.

This was followed by a general council decision to hold a leadership election.
