National coach Devis Mangia, on the eve of his second match at the helm of the national team, said that he is looking for a good result against latvia this evening. Mangia was speaking in the pre-match press conference at Ta’ Qali yesterday.

He said that the disappointment for the result in Torshavn was great for himself and for the players. He said that Malta showed very good things in that match but now we have to keep on doing this he added.

Latvia are arguably the best side of the group even though they failed at home in their opening match against Andorra, a game which mangia said they deserved to win. Mangia said he wants to see good reaction from the players after Thursday’s defeat and he was sure that Maltese will give a good performance even today.

Mangia said that the Malta side has to improve match after match to get the desired results.

He lamented about the fact that UEFA did not allow five substitutions for these close encounters and said that it is hard to travel and play two matches in 72 hours.

Mangia confirmed that he will probably make some changes, but all depended on the physical fitness of the squad and the last training session which was held after the press conference.

Also addressing the press conference was midfielder Matthew Guillaumier who had a very good showing against Faroe Islands. He said that the group is well prepared and eager to cancel the defeat against Faroe Islands. He said that the supporters will be sorely missed tonight at Ta’ Qali but was convinced that Malta will do well tonight.
