Relatives of people who have died of COVID-19 will now have the possibility to hold a funeral in churches up to 24 hours to bury their relatives and hold a funeral in churches, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
Family members will be allowed 24 hours to plan the funeral.
In a statement, the health ministry revealed that following an internal evaluation, a revision of the practices surrounding the burial process of coronavirus victims was carried out.
The change in regulations also comes also following many complaints posed by relatives who recently lost a family member from COVID-19.
The funerals for people who die with COVID-19 will follow the same rules that currently apply in churches.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, “our country has always followed the guidelines of the WHO and the ECDC on every aspect. This includes burial of people who have died while being positive with the virus.”
