A 24-year-old man was arrested by police on Sunday night after being found in possession of a substantial amount of cocaine, a statement read.

The police said that its Anti-Drug Squad had arrested the man, who is a Marsaxlokk resident, in Triq it-Trunciera in Marsaxlokk.

He was found with around 60 small packets of cocaine and another two packets of cannabis which were ready to be sold, and an amount of cash as well.

The man is being held under arrest at the police’s headquarters in Floriana and is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow on drug trafficking charges amongst others.

Duty Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo has opened a magisterial inquiry while police investigations are still ongoing.
