The Maltese national football team is the third best mover in the FIFA world rankings in 2020, the football federation said.
Malta gained 32 points during the year, courtesy to back to back competitive wins, the first time that this happened in the country’s football history.
Hungary topped the list with 44 points, followed by Ecuador on 41. Behind Malta, giants Brazil were in fourth place with a 31-point jump.
Malta is still in the 176th world ranking, up eight places from the 184the place registered at the end of 2019.
It is Malta’s best placing since 2015 (162nd place).
