Uncle, niece share €250,000 in Boxing Day quaterno win

Friday, 1 January 2021, 07:42 Last update: about 4 years ago

An uncle and a niece scooped up €250,000 on Boxing Day in the LOTTO QUATERNO PLUS draw, as they matched five out of the eight drawn numbers.

The players purchased two different winning tickets with the numbers 49 – 53 – 56 – 61 - 62 from POS 350 in San Gwann and POS 324 in Rabat. Both players were aware to be playing the same numbers that they have been playing for years, of their deceased mother and grandmother and her sisters, respectively.

One of the winners found out about winning the jackpot while watching the televised draw on TVM. Family members tried to reach the other player via telephone, but he was not reachable. He made the jaw dropping discovery as soon as he returned home later in the evening.

Both winners, who are regular players, told Maltco that their head is still spinning after their win in the Saturday Lotto draw as they never imagined winning such a fantastic amount of money.

The players who claimed their prize from Maltco offices on Thursday 31 December, took home a cheque of €125,000 each. Both said that they will be sharing the winnings with their families.

Maltco Lotteries congratulates the lucky winners and wishes all its players and their families a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
