Thursday, 7 January 2021, 10:26 Last update: about 4 years ago

The southbound lanes of the Marsa-Ħamrun Bypass Flyover in Qormi will be closed today and Sunday after Infrastructure Malta found that the asphalt used was sub-standard.

The announcement was made yesterday on Infrastructure Malta’s (IM) social media platforms.

IM informed that a few weeks ago it asked its contractors to redo asphalt works on the Marsa-Hamrun Bypass flyover in Qormi, at their own expense.

However, tests that were carried out following these remedial works confirmed that the new road surface was still not in line with applicable quality standards. So IM once again asked its contractors to resurface this road at their own expense.

Thus, the southbound lanes of this road’s flyover will be closed for the repetition of this remedial works today 7 January from 8 pm to 5:30 am and Sunday 10 January 8am to 4pm.

IM advised drivers to follows signs to a short diversion down the flyover’s southbound off-slip to the roundabout beneath and up the on-slip in the same direction have.
