An 81 year old woman had to be taken to Mater Dei Hospital after she was injured in a traffic accident in Triq Giuseppe Stivala, Naxxar. 

The accident happened at around 15:30pm and the woman is from Birkirkara. 

Preliminary investigations revealed that a collision occured between a Mini Paceman, driven by a 53-year old woman from Swieqi, and a Chevrolet Matiz, driven by a 54-year old woman from Birkirkara. 

The victim was a passenger in the Chevrolet along with a 24-year old man from Birkirkara. She was later certified to have been seriously injured.

 Police investigations are ongoing.
