The first consignment of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine is expected to arrive in Malta on Sunday night, Health Minister Chris Fearne said.

Moderna was the second vaccine approved by the EU to be distributed among EU countries. The EU has ordered 80 million doses of the Moderna vaccine with an option for a further 80 million. The bloc also has committed to buying 300 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which was the first vaccine that was approved.

Fearne spoke during a political activity on Sunday morning.

The Health Minister said that he and the Prime Minister are on the same page and work together, in response to criticism that he and the Prime Minister had been fighting.

He spoke of the measures which the country took to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, such as the wage supplement that saved thousands of jobs.
