Zejtun and Santa Lucia extended their positive streak with a low profile 1-1 draw. Both sides should and could have offered more, but in the end both were happy with the result obtained, a result that leaves Santa Lucia in a healthy mid-table posituion and Zejtun just above the relegation zone.

For newly promoted Zejtun this was their third consecutive positive result, and for Santa Lucia this was their sixth consecutive result without a defeat.

Both teams also finished the match with ten players with

Tachikawa sent off for Santa Lucia with a second yellow card ten minutes from time, with Barboza receiving a straight red six minutes later for Zejtun.

The match was played at a slow pace and the weather conditions did not make it easy either. Zejtun took the lead on 20 minutes when Thiago Bonfim headed home a Barboza cross. Santa Lucia struggled at firat but then they forced some reaction but the game remained cagey.

On 58 minutes Santa Lucia drew level. One of their best players Kevin Ante Rosero made his way inside the Zejtun area but was floored and the referee awarded the penalty. From the spot Alan da Silva Souza made no mistake.

Emotions lacked for the remaining minutes as bot sides were more determined not to lose the game and leave empty handed. Ten minutes from time Tachikawa received a second booking, but Zejtun’s superiority lasted only six minutes as Barboza saw red after a very rough tackle.
