187 new cases of Covid-19 found, 1,274 more people vaccinated

187 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Wednesday as another 1,274 people were vaccinated.

189 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus, while two more patients passed away in the last 24 hours.

It means that the number of active cases currently stands at 2,831.

A woman aged 79 and a man aged 91 both passed away at Mater Dei Hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the number of deaths up to 244.

Meanwhile, another 1,274 people were vaccinated on Tuesday, taking the total number of vaccine doses administered up to 14,276 so far.

3,879 swab tests were carried out on Tuesday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 577,544 so far.

No details were given about where the new cases originated from.

Malta has now had 16,129 cases of Covid-19.  13,054 of those have recovered, while 244 have died.
