Media experts form up the panel in consultation with the Broadcasting Authority and other governmental entities. Its aim is to draw up a plan and promote measures to ensure development of literacy skills in the media field.

It will also ensure that citizens have the desired media skills, and have access to information. It also has to make sure that citizens can exercise the power of judgment, analyse complex realities as well as distinguishing between opinion and facts.

Bugeja, who retired from PBS last year and was replaced by Norma Saliba, will lead the board.

The other members are Joanna Spiteri, Clare Agius, Claudia Cuschieri, Daniela Attard Bezzina, Michela Cutajar, Ben Camille, Grazio Grixti, Karl Parnis, Patrick Camilleri, Peppi Azzopardi and Rev. Saviour Chircop.
