202 new cases found as two more patients die

202 new cases of Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday, while two more people have died while positive for the virus.

It's the first time that the case numbers have gone back over the 200 mark since 28 January.

Authorities said that during the last 24 hours, an 85-year-old woman passed away at Mater Dei Hospital and an 81-year-old man passed away at St. Vincent de Paule.

284 people have now died in Malta while positive for Covid-19.

146 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus.  This means that the number of active cases has increased to 2,406.

3,206 swab tests were carried out yesterday, taking the total number of swab tests up to 639,935 so far.

Meanwhile, 41,285 doses of the vaccine have now been administered.  11,050 people have received both doses of the vaccine.

Malta has had 19,015 cases of the virus so far.  16,325 of those have recovered, while 284 have died.
