As part of its habitat restoration projects, Ambjent Malta is conducting works at 12th May Street, Żebbug with an investment of €15,000.

This was announced by Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning Aaron Farrugia when visiting Ambjent Malta workers who started with embellishment works and planting of indigenous trees and shrubs.

“We are continuing with our work to green our country, particularly in the heart of our communities. Work by Ambjent Malta to restore various habitats are ongoing, and today the works started in this street to embellish the area, plant more trees, and take better care of the existing pine trees. These works are part of our agenda towards greener planning: we are working to improve the aesthetics of our roads, improve quality of life and reduce any negative experiences associated with urban living."

"With challenges brought about by economic success, development, and issues such as climate change - focusing on sustainable planning and our environment is more important than ever. We are doing this for the health of our communities and the benefit of current and future generations,” Minister Farrugia said.

The minister explained that the main works which will be conducted in this area are the embellishment of existing soft areas with indigenous trees and shrubs, removal of litter, removal of invasive alien species, corrective pruning of existing trees, removal of dead material from existing trees, removal of dead pine trees and planting of replacements.
